Our Head of Structures, CVE (Panel 3)…
What do you enjoy most about your role at AFD Systems?
I am able to directly influence the growth and development of the new generation of Aerospace Engineers.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received at AFD Systems?
To keep my eye on the ball for “opportunities” whilst discussing anything with any customers.
Favourite film and why?
Kelly’s Heros (1970) because Odd Ball was way out there with his paint shells and the cast was a brilliant gathering of the best.
Who is your role model? (in manufacturing/engineering/aerospace)
My Old Chief Stressman Roger Carlton. He was Calm, humble, fair and realistic and listened when challenged. I have no interest in placing “known leaders/ prominent personalities” – people I do not know personally on any form of pedestal.
Describe the team at AFD Systems in one word?
Cooperative.
What’s one fun fact about you that others might not know?
In around 1980 I learnt by accident a very fast and efficient way to create a perfect sized cat flap in a warehouse door.
This was whilst whizzing around on a forklift truck — say no more!
