Phill has over 42 years in aerospace stress and structures and is a subject matter expert and CVE signatory, providing compliance oversight for airframe structural design.

HEAD OF STRUCTURES

He holds an HND in Mechanical Engineering, is a Member of the Royal Aeronautical Society (MRAeS) and has CVE Panel 3 accreditation.

He began his career at Marshall of Cambridge in 1983 as a trainee Stress Engineer, moved to BAE Systems’ Air-Weapon division in 1988, worked as a consultant stress engineer, before returning to Marshall as Lead Stress Engineer. He served as deputy to the Head of Stress / Head of Mechanical Engineering.

Phill became a Stress Check signatory and Gulfstream MRB signatory in 1993 and was approved as a CVE in 2007. He has since acted as CVE, checker and mentor of programmes to European, US, Canadian and UK CAA rules, plus Military Aviation Authority standards and HSE guidance.

Phill received the RAeS 2006 Specialist Team Bronze Award with the Marshall Aerostructures team for advanced Auxiliary Fuel Tank design. Motivated by problem solving and coaching, he enjoys complex projects, learning and helping younger engineers thrive.
